The sweet-smelling ginger originated in India and was introduced to Hawaii by the early Polynesian settlers. Its leaves, stalks, and roots have been used for cooking, hygiene, and medicinal purposes. The beautifully scented ginger (Awapuhi Ke’oke’o--white ginger or Awapuhi Melemele—yellow ginger) is sewn through an open bloom (length-wise and on top of each other) to create a simple, stylish lei. This lei is a sentimental favorite among many local Hawaiians! Tip: For a more upscale appearance, order two or more strands and have them twisted into one lei! Also try ordering a dual color twist for a chic look! See Ginger: Two Strand Twist
NOTE: For the hot summer months of June through August, we recommend and guarantee the freshness of Ginger to the West Coast States only (using overnight shipping options.)
Care: Refrigerate in sealed plastic bag or container. Handle flowers as little as possible before usage.
If you are purchasing in advance for an arrival date between 5/1/26 and 6/15/26, we’re sorry but ginger is sold out due to pre-orders, high demand, and a shortage caused by farm flooding from the major storm in March. If your arrival date is before this timeframe, we can most likely accommodate your order, but including a second choice may be helpful.
